Neroli.... what??

It may sound strange, but you more than likely have seen or even smelled it before! Neroli is none other than orange blossoms! :) Neroli essential oil is made by distilling orange blossoms.

Because of the detailed and abstract distilling process, Neroli essential oil is placed up there right along with the other precious gems of essential oils, such as Jasmine or Rose Otto essential oil. It takes about 1000 pounds of orange blossoms to make only one pound of oil!

The scent is a very fruity and sweet smell, making it ideal for perfumes and other personal products. One whiff of this will have you wanting to wear it every day, and you have good cause to do so!

Neroli is SO much more than an amazing smell, it is also an oil that was highly treasured in ancient Egypt for its ability to heal the mind, body and spirit. Neroli is a natural relaxant that strengthenes and stabilizes the emotions and aids in relaxation and focus.

A precious little gem indeed!

Most common uses:
-Mental Clarity
-Emotional Balance

A few of the Young Living blends it is found in are:
Acceptance, Awaken, Humility, Inner Child, Live with Passion, Oola grow, Present Time

Lovin' the Lavender Fields!!

Okay, so I'll try to catch up a little bit at a time... But here are the lavender fields I've been raving about!!

When we drove up, I could catch the occasional whiff of Lavender, but actually going into the field?? Oh my! I could just lay in it all day! Truthfully, lavender is not my favorite essential oil, but when I got out to the field it was just a soft, relaxing scent wafting through the air. AMAZING.

Being a Master Gardener in Louisiana taught me a LOT, and realizing that, not only did Young Living grow their own herbs for their essential oils, but they do it beyond organically was SO exciting!!

I was happy, (yes, actually happy!) to see weeds growing in the fields, because that meant they did not use any herbicides, and the bugs were more than plentiful, so that meant they didn't use any pesticides either! :D The only control they use is the essential oils they produced that did not meet up to the company's stellar packaging standards, so instead of selling them, they use them as all-natural pest help and fertilizer in their fields! How cool is that??

I was also SUPER excited to realize that they save their own seeds and replant their own seed for next year's crop. I know, probably a "duh!" thing, but I guess I had never thought about it!

More to come about the farm, I promise! But I'm just doing it bit by bit!

So.... It's been a while...

I have been so busy preparing for and going to the annual Young Living convention I've sadly been neglecting my blog! I have so many ideas and so many things I will be changing and sharing.

I have learned SO much this week, and am so thankful for the opportunity God has given me to learn more about His amazing creation and the many relationships He gives us!

There are so many things I am taking with me from this week, but one of my favorite things was the opportunity and freedom many of the recognized leaders had to give glory to God for what He had done in their lives and how He had used Young Living as a means to open doors that would otherwise not have been open to them. I was able to witness high ranks taking time out of their busy schedule to speak with, encourage, and individually pray with lower rankers that they had never met, and even got to witness a whole group of oilers stand in the grassy area next to the convention center and just sing praise and glory to God! I almost cried when they sang "How Great Thou Art!"

So what I really learned this week, even more than essential oils and business is that it is all about building relationships and bringing our wonderful, merciful Savior and Creator into that relationship!

I am SO thankful for this opportunity to learn and to get to meet many friends, spend time with and get know my special oily family!

100 Essential Oils in 100 Days - Day 3 - Basil

Did you know... Italian women actually wore basil to attract possible suitors!

The origin of the word "Basil" actually came from the Greek word "basileum," which literally translates into the word "king." The Greeks actually referred to basil as the "king of all plants!"

This is actually is pretty neat to me, considering HOW MUCH basil can be used for! Some of the favorite uses for basil are to help refresh the mind and restore mental alertness, soothe and relax muscles, respiratory support, and coolant for the skin!

Basil essential oil is derrived from the steam distilled from the leaves, stems and flowers of the basil plant.

Young Living blends containing basil are Aroma Siez (FAVORITE!!!), Clarity and M-Grain. Those names give you a hint as to how AMAZING this stuff is?

Main systems it is used to support:
-Cardiovascular
-Muscle and Bone

And if that wasn't enough... Basil vitality essential oil is a MUST in your kitchen! You've not lived until you've had some Tomato Basil Soup made with this stuff!

100 Oils in 100 Days - Day 2 - Myrtle

Did you know that Myrtle was referred to in the Bible six times? In Esther 2:7, Esther is referred to as Hadassah which is the Hebrew name for Myrtle! To the ancient Jews, myrtle was symbolic of peace and justice. Also, the word Myrtle, derived from Latin, means "chaste beauty". Quite fitting for Esther's role, isn't it?

Myrtle oil is distilled from the leaves of the tree, and has been studied greatly for it's purification properties.

The chemistry of Myrtle oil is very close to that of Frankincense, and is supportive of the respiratory system, skin, and hair. In the past it has been researched for its effects on glandular imbalances. It is also helpful for meditation and lifting the spirit.

Did you know that many brides today still wear Myrtle as a symbol of innocence?

Isaiah 55:13
“Instead of the thorn bush will grow the pine tree, and instead of briers the myrtle will grow. This will be for the LORD’s renown, for an everlasting sign, which will not be destroyed.”
Nehemiah 8:15
"Go forth onto the mount, and fetch olive branches, and pine branches, and myrtle branches, and palm branches, and branches of thick trees, to make booths, as it is written".

Young Living blends contain Myrtle are: Breathe Again Roll-On, EndoFlex, Inspiration, JuvaTone, Mister, Prostate Health, Purification, R.C., SuperCal and Thyromin

Systems it supports:
-Respiratory System
-Digestive System
-Glandular/Hormonal Balance
